Updates
From the Nationals Office

The USRA National Board voted to eliminate the position
of Junior Regional Coordinators and instead is requesting that all states choose a state
junior commissioner to help jump start increased participation of Juniors
Nationwide. The Connecticut Junior Commissioner is Ed Mazur. He can be reached
at (860)677-5814.
In an effort to reduce financial burdens
on families, the USRA Board also voted to
eliminate Junior Regional Tournaments as the qualifying event for Junior Nationals.
Instead State Championships will be used as the qualifying event. However, regions
may elect to run a Junior Regional. For the record, Connecticut will be hosting the
Northeast Junior Regionals in Connecticut in March 2000.
The USRA Board also voted to eliminate two Regions from
the Adult Regional Tournaments. One of the regions eliminated was New York/New
Jersey. That means we will have more players from the New York area participating in
the New England Adult Regionals. The site and the tournament directors have not been
chosen yet for the New England region. We will keep you posted. Click here for the upcoming schedule.
